STYRES OUTLASTS FIELD AT OHSWEKEN SPEEDWAY
09/02/2012 - 10:40pm

(September 2, 2012)... Glenn Styres remained in contention for the top spot in the hotly-contested Corr/Pak Sprints Standings with a victory Friday night. The “Ohsweken Flyer” weathered a wild race to capture his fourth win of the season at Ohsweken Speedway.

Styres, who entered the race in fourth place, gained ground on points leader Tom Huppunen and Travis Cunningham, who came into the night in second. Both drivers ran into problems in the Corr/Pak Merchandising Sprint Cars. Huppunen flipped his car on the backstretch forcing him borrow a ride in the A-Main, while Cunningham rolled his car in corner four ending his night. The crashes were the first of three wrecks in the race. When racing resumed, Styres passed race leader Kyle Patrick in traffic to take the lead. He held on for the win on his home track with Jessica Zemken driving from the 15th starting spot to finish second.

Glenn and his brother Curt Styres own and operate the 3/8 dirt track in Six Nations. Curt is the owner and general manager of the 2012 World Champion Rochester Knighthawks. In his illustrious racing career, Glenn stands as a six-time “Promoter of the Year" and a four-time Southern Ontario Sprints Champion.

On Friday, September 7th, Ohsweken Speedway will host the O’Neil’s Farm Equipment & Case International, which will present the "Season Championships" for all divisions.
