RABIL JOINS WORLD CHAMPS
07/28/2012 - 9:49pm

(July 27, 2012)… Rochester Knighthawks Owner and General Manager Curt Styres announced that the 2012 World Champions have acquired Paul Rabil in exchange for Jarrett Davis. The Knighthawks swung the deal with their 2012 Championship Game opponent, the Edmonton Rush.

“He has the heart and the passion we are looking for,” said Styres.

In four seasons in the National Lacrosse League, Rabil recorded 44 goals and 79 assists, and 324 loose balls in 52 games with the Washington Stealth. The 26-year-old Elkton, Maryland native has made a habit of winning championships. Rabil captured the 2010 NLL title and the 2011 Major League Lacrosse title. In-between he earned MVP honors as he led Team USA to a gold medal at the 2010 FIL World Lacrosse Championships. He also earned two NCAA Championships at Johns Hopkins University. He stands as only one of three players in lacrosse to have won an MLL, NLL, World Championship, and Division I Championship in his career, joining Gary Gait and Tom Marechek.

Rabil was drafted second overall by the Stealth in the 2008 National Lacrosse League Entry Draft. In 2010, he scored two goals to help Washington win its first NLL title. That season, he set the Washington Stealth team record for loose balls, collecting 153 in 16 games. In 2011, he helped the Stealth return to the Champion's Cup Finals. In the summer of 2011, he played for the US Indoor Team and helped the Americans win bronze in Prague. In 2012, Rabil was named to his fourth consecutive NLL All-Star Game. He was traded later in the season to the Edmonton Rush in exchange for Athan Iannucci.

In the pro field game, Rabil is currently a member of the MLL’s Boston Cannons and leads the league with 32 assists and 56 points. He is 16 points away from breaking John Grant Jr.’s single-season MLL record of 71 points. In 2011, he not only won his first MLL title, but was selected the Offensive Player of the Year and league MVP for the second time in his career. Rabil has played in five consecutive MLL All-Star Games.

He joined the Cannons in 2008 as the first overall pick after an impressive college career. Rabil was a major contributor for the 2005 and the 2007 NCAA Championships for Johns Hopkins. Rabil was one of the most decorated players to ever play for the Blue Jays, earning four-time All-American honors and the 2007 McLaughlin Award given to the nation's most outstanding midfielder. He was also a finalist for the Tewaaraton Trophy, awarded to the "Most Outstanding" collegiate lacrosse player, in 2007 and 2008.

Heading to Edmonton in the trade is third-year pro Jarrett Davis. In 2012, he recorded a career-high 21 assists and 28 points in 13 games with the Knighthawks. The Port Moody, BC native played an even bigger role in the 2012 Champion’s Cup Playoffs, recording a team-high nine assists and tying for fourth on the team with 10 points. The former first-round pick concluded the postseason with two assists in the win over Edmonton in the NLL Finals.

Rabil is dedicated to fitness. Just take a look at this video.
