(July 12, 2012)… Alex “Kedoh” Hill has used his time with the Champion’s Cup as motivation to win another Cup. The Rochester Knighthawks forward had another stellar night, recording a career-high six points (4+2) in a 14-7 victory over the Brooklin Redmen last night.
With the win, the Chiefs (6-3-1) moved past Peterborough and Brooklin and into first place in the MSL. Knighthawks’ Cody Jamieson (2+3) and Craig Point (3+2) also had big nights, recording five points each.
In his rookie season in the MSL, Hill is now tied for first on the team in goals (15) and is second in points (25) in 10 games. He made the transition to the senior ranks after completing his second season in the National Lacrosse League. Hill notched career highs in goals, assists and points.
Hill has shared his first Champion’s Cup with friends, family, lacrosse players and members of multiple Reservations. He even drove the Cup 400 miles to the Kanawakhe Reserve, which is near Montreal. Hill displayed the NLL trophy at the Second Annual Lax Festival in late June, while sharing his knowledge of the Creator's Game.
“I am glad I had an opportunity to come to another Reserve and share my knowledge and experiences in lacrosse,” said Hill. “It is something I have always wanted to do. I want to get the youth more interested in lacrosse.”
In the Wednesday night showdown for the top spot in the league, Hill opened the game with back-to-back goals 46 seconds apart to stake Six Nations to a 2-0 lead. After falling behind 3-2, it was Point’s turn to lead the offense. The NLL veteran scored two goals and assisted on another and the Chiefs were back in the lead 5-3.
Brooklin pulled even early in the third, but Six Nations bolted ahead with five straight goals to end the second period in front 10-5. Jamieson scored two goals and Hill notched one and assisted on another during the seven-minute barrage.
With the score 11-6, Hill scored his fourth of the contest from Clay Hill and Brandon Miller to give him his first four-goal game in the MSL. Point completed the hat trick at 11:26 to make it 14-5 Six Nations. The Redmen got a late goal by Derek Hopcroft, which was the final marker of the game. The same two teams will meet on Saturday, July 14th at 7:00 p.m. at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena.
