
Cup at Stock Exchange Restaurant tonight - Rochester Knighthawks forward Joe Walters will share the Champion’s Cup with the lacrosse fans of Rochester, as the team kicks off a radio tour today.
Hometown boy Joe Walters assisted on three goals as Rochester rallied from a four-goal deficit Saturday to defeat the Edmonton Rush, 9-6. The Irondequoit High School product was second on the Knighthawks with 13 playoff points. The former season ticket holder now gets to share his first NLL championship with thousands of friends.
“I have a great sense of pride in being a Rochesterian, knowing how much lacrosse means to this region,” said Walters. “Seeing the excitement of the fans lets us know how much the team means to them.”
Walters’ first stop today is at 4:05 p.m. on the John Di Tullio Show on 1280 WHTK, 107.3 FM and whtk.com. This evening, the Knighthawks with take the Cup to the Stock Exchange Restaurant for the “Championship Wrap Up Show” of Hawk Talk at 7:00 p.m. Fans can meet Walters, Broadcaster Craig Rybczynski and members of the Knightingales dance team. Call-in guests will include Head Coach Mike Hasen and Team Captain Pat McCready. The show will air on knighthawkskrew.com on Friday.

Hawk Talk is a fan-run radio show in its 15th season, and is the longest running lacrosse radio show in the world. The show’s hosts are Tim Knab and Eric “Gonzo” Driscoll.
On Friday, Walters will go in-studio with Terry, Steve and Newman at 9:00 a.m. on the BEE Morning Coffee Club. Fans can tune into 92.5 FM and www.wbee.com. Newman served as the public address announcer for the 2012 World Champion Rochester Knighthawks.
“Sports can often be a metaphor for life. I am proud of our team, and happy to be associated with such a fine organization. They fought through off-field distractions, injuries, and adversity this season. Quitting was not in the Knighthawks’ vocabulary,” said Newman. “I never doubted our guys at any point during the season or at halftime in the championship game. Nothing great is ever achieved without enthusiasm and hard work, and our team proved it. Is it too soon to think about a repeat? These are the best players in the world at their sport, and this championship is a credit to our club and our community. Let's go Hawks!”
