Tonight's Boxla Beat will be the Champions Edition, featuring five members of the NLL title-winning Rochester Knighthawks.
Five members of the National Lacrosse League Champion Rochester Knighthawks will appear on Boxla Beat tonight with host Stephen Stamp, editor at IL Indoor. The show will feature Head Coach Mike Hasen, goalie Matt Vinc, forwards Cory Vitarelli and Joe Walters, and defensive transition player Brad Self. (Photo by Bill Wippert)
All five were instrumental in the Knighthawks’ drive to the championship and will share their experiences throughout the season and through the enchanted playoff run that led to a home game for all the marbles. Some have already threatened to chirp Stamp for his selection of the Rush to win the Cup Final. Check out the show live at 7 pm ET on the Lacrosse Radio Network.
Rochester used a dominating second half to erase a 5-1 deficit to win the Champion's Cup, 9-6. Matt Vinc made 46 saves and tied the NLL Championship Game record for fewest goals allowed, set by Toronto Rock goalie Bob Watson in 2003 against the Knighthawks.
The Knighthawks were in their seventh title game in 18 years and first since 2007. Rochester has also won league championships in 1997 and 2007. The professional lacrosse championship was the first won at The Blue Cross Arena since the Rochester Griffins won a title in 1974.
