Training Camp opens.jpg(November 22, 2016)... The Rochester Knighthawks will open training camp this weekend at Total Sports Experience in East Rochester (435 West Commercial Street). This year’s training camp could be one of the most competitive yet with 32 players battling for the 20 spots on the team’s active roster.

“That is the direction we have to take. There is no more resting on our laurels,” said Knighthawks head coach Mike Hasen. “We have to start now with that hunger and that drive. Everybody has to be willing to battle for a spot and battle for each other.”

The Knighthawks will hold their first day of camp on Saturday, Nov. 26 as they hit the turf from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. and then from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The players will wrap up the opening weekend with a 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. session on Sunday. Training camp is free and open to the public.

This weekend is the first time the coaching staff has been together since concluding Rookie Camp on Nov. 7.

“This is a fresh start,” said Hasen. “We have high expectations at the start of every camp. Rookie Camp was a teaser for us on what we have to work on and be prepared for. We have been waiting for this time for almost a month now.”

After the two-day camp in Rochester, the Knighthawks will return home to host the Georgia Swarm on Saturday, Dec. 10 in a preseason showdown at Connors & Ferris Field at The Blue Cross Arena. The 8:00 p.m. game is free for season ticket holders, while general admission seats are priced at $10 for adults and $5 for kids. However, if you bring in a new, unwrapped toy to benefit the Pirate Toy Fund, you will receive a pair of tickets to the game.

Rochester will kick off its 23rd season on Thursday, Dec. 29 when it hosts the Toronto Rock at 7:30 p.m. at Connors & Ferris Field. Season tickets are still available for the 2017 season, which includes seats for the preseason game. To order, please call the Knighthawks Office at (585) 454-4295.
