KNIGHTHAWKS’ MOVEMBER CAMPAIGN RECEIVES $500 ASSIST

Movember Donation photo.jpg(November 10, 2016)… The Xerox Kans-4-Kids/Good Neighbor Program has joined the Rochester Knighthawks’ Movember efforts by donating $500 to their fundraising campaign. The money, which was raised by Xerox employees, will go directly to Gilda’s Prostate Cancer Support Group.

“Xerox employees have always been generous in their support of Gilda's Club children's and breast cancer programs,” said Gilda’s Club Rochester CEO Bob Russell. “We're thrilled that they are also sharing their support for our Men's Prostate program and the Movember Knighthawks’ campaign!”

For Xerox Kans-4-Kids project manager Ed DiPonzio, supporting his favorite pro sport team and his charity of choice was an easy decision.

“When I heard about the fundraiser, I knew I had an opportunity to do more than just help promote it on a personal level. Going through the project I manage at work, it was pretty simple to help this movement out with more funding for the Knighthawks and Gilda’s Club,” said DiPonzio, who is a Knighthawks season ticket holder. “It combines my passion for the Knighthawks and my passion for my (work) team. I also personally support the mission of Gilda’s Club.”

Now in its 34th year, the Xerox Kans-4-Kids/Good Neighbor Program is a volunteer based team of Xerox employees dedicated to providing monetary support for charities and/or Xerox employees/family members stricken with an illness or with special needs. With over 125 collection points, Xerox raises funds through the collection of five cent returnable bottles and cans throughout the Webster and Xerox Square facilities.

This afternoon, the Xerox Kans-4-Kids/Good Neighbor Program presented a $250 check to each of the Knighthawks’ fundraising teams. The Knighthawks’ Mustaches for Cancer Movember contest features two teams, the Dangerous Dusters and the Mo-Hawks. Knighthawks players Dan and Paul Dawson are the team captains, with Dan leading the Dangerous Dusters and Paul piloting the Mo-Hawks. The team that collects the most money by midnight on Wednesday, Nov. 30 will be declared the winner.

The Knighthawks players and staff are in their second week of growing facial hair to raise funds for prostate cancer research and spread awareness about a disease that affects about one in seven men. With the generous donation by the Xerox Kans-4-Kids/Good Neighbor Program, the Knighthawks have now collected over $1,200. Fans can donate money to their favorite team by going online to www.knighthawks/Movember.

“This is another great example of a strong community partner that is working together to support this cause,” said Knighthawks Director of Sales Nate Snyder. “The Knighthawks organization would like to thank our valued season ticket holder, Ed DiPonzio, for his diligence in pursuing this donation as well as Xerox (Kans-4-Kids) for their generosity. It is truly incredible to see the impact that can be made when local champions connect on projects such as this.”
