Rochester used five power-play goals to secure the semifinal victory and improve to 3-1.

“They came out really fired up for this game and it showed right away,” said Jr. Knighthawks head coach Tim Soudan. “It’s the extra hard work on the little things that translated quickly into goals for us.”

The Rochester Knighthawks’ junior team will play the winner of the game between Edge Lacrosse and the Albany Attack. The Championship Game of the inaugural tournament is set for 1:00 p.m.

The Jr. Knighthawks used a balanced offensive attack to pull away from Harvest. Six different scorers notched goals for the Jr. Knighthawks, with Casey McDermott leading the way with three goals and three assists.

With the Jr. Knighthawks leading 3-2 early in the first, they broke open the game by ending the half on a 5-1 run. McDermott led the Rochester offense with three goals over the first 22 minutes. His breakaway tally at 19:04 of the first gave the Jr. Knighthawks an 8-3 heading into halftime.

In the second half, Koleton Marquis scored twice, while Rioux Johnson netted the second of his two goals to finish with a three-point effort. The Jr. Knighthawks iced the game with three straight power-play goals to open up a 12-4 lead. Johnson connected at 5:22 and Marquis netted back-to-back markers in a span of 1:51.

The Jr. Knighthawks also received a four-point game (2+2) from Kaleb Benedict and single tallies from Jonathan Pierce, Hunter Parucki and Joey Pezzimenti. In goal, Gage Stevens and William Dempsey each played one half to backstop the winning effort.
